Artist's Comments

Just a quick painting. If she looks crazy she is, Rapunzel would be one messed up chick!

Very nice! I love the warm atmosphere. The neck looks a bit odd, but it definitely doesn't ruin the painting; it's really pretty!
Have you seen the Disney concepts, btw?

You hack your way through the jungle and there comes a point where the guide says "get out your cameras. The gorillas are around the corner." I grabbed my sketch book. The guide looked at me like I was an idiot.

Thanks so much, and yeah her neck is a bit weird. I really should call this a work in progress, I could go a lot further with it. I didn't use any reference either, it would be a lot better if I found a good stock image. I would leave her face in shadow though, I kinda like that you cant see it, makes it all the more ambiguous.

I'v seen like two of the Disney's Rapunzel concepts. I was so excited that Glenn Kean was the director (he is my favorite Disney animator) but then I heard he got let go, or he got sick... I hope it will still be influenced by him though, every character he ever did was so emotionally deep and original.

I know that Kristen Chenoweth is doing the voice of Rapunzel, I love her, but that makes me feel like the movie will be very light, and happy. I have no idea how they are going to do that, :o it's such a dark story!

Wow, you call that quick? I couldn't do that in a hundred years -_____-''

Would you make a tutorial on how to color/draw? Your art is simply amazing and I'm sure a lot of people would like to know more. :(

Well, it's not SOO dark. It has its happy moments 8DD... 8D... :|

Glen Keane's still in the movie, but I can't remember well the thing. He was going to be the director or something but he stepped out for health issues and now he's animation director, or sth like that. I gotta find out more.

Oh God, these are total amazing: [link]
And when I saw your pic in my inbox I inmediatly thought of this one:[link]
Shame they've plugged a squirrel in. Nothing against them, but they seem to appear in every princess/fantasy movie ¬¬ Like Enchanted and Snow White. I'm a bit tired. Hope it's darker than the usual movies, as you said *probably not.*

And please develop the pic some moar! It would look even cooler!

I'm frequent visitor to that Glean Kean site :), but I hadn't seen those new pictures yet! The environment paintings look amazing, but I am actually a little disappointed with the character design, it looks very 3D, like Shrek or something... nothing against Shrek, but I thought Disney was making a big deal about how they were really going back to the old 2D way of doing things, using computers just to enhance special effects and stuff. I heard the animation of Rapunzel was suppose to be a bit like Fantasia 2000, which I thought was fantastic

If I find time I will, quite busy at the moment :) I don't do anything special when I paint, just the normal way :)
